Apparently we're supposed to argue now. But...you're correct. What I described was pit run.What are you doing with the rock? If it's for drainage, washed rock will eliminate nearly all the fines...and since you're talking about 3" minus...nothing in the mix should be smaller than about 2 inches.
If you're talking about "pit run 3 inch minus" then you'll get all the rock, sand, and gravel smaller than a 3 inch nominal size. (will pass through a 3 inch screen sieve.)

Students will load it into trucks and the student drivers will haul it and dump it back in the stockpile. This times 40 times a day.
The rock we have now has so many fines we have to run a water truck full time.
