How is quality of Pep Boys tires? I almost killed myself today damn weather

i went to home depot to get special bulb, for some reason when I came out I checked all four tires.


Drove for about 5min, made slow turn going about 15mph I see yellow cab standing in the middle of street so i slowly start breaking! boom and car doesnt stop ( street was unplowed) only option was to hit the cab or go on sidewalk. thank god in seconds i got on sidewalk and were 5 inches away from hitting metal fence. cabby came out thanked me for saving his car. the reason i couldnt stop my right front tire was totally flat.


so how is pep boys quality? i am thinking of getting two new front tires for $50ea and use 20 off coupon

no i had 4 expensive good year tires with perfect thread left. my tires were all good when i left home depot parking lot

Hmmmmm, any freekin chance the tire went flat when you flew over the curb while driving too fast for the condition of the streets?

pep boys are like any place...varying quality depending on what you buy, from my experience, they have very reasonably priced parts that work just as well as anything from napa...as far as tires go, get some of these

tirerack has good price but delivery times. in pep boys i am getting best two tires for $80 after coupon inluding mounting and rotating

i just bought 4 brand new 80k mile michelin agility tires for my Corsica. I'll never have to put tires on that car again .
Cost: $500 for mount, balance, alignment, and oil change. + free palm zire wooo!!

If you have a Sam's club get them there. Their prices are reasonable as are their add-ons (only $9 IIRC) for stem balancing etc. Most other places charge you $15-$17. That also includes 50,000 mile free flat repair, lifetime rotation and hazard warranty. If your tire becomes unusable for any reason they will pro-rate the amount of wear towards the cost of a new tire. I recently got a brand new tire for $10 cos they could not repair a tire (got a big bolt in the tire and their repair still leaked) so they basically measure the tread and gave me 100% refund. I only paid the difference in the current tire price and what I bought it for nearly 5 months ago.
