its starbucks style chinese food. slightly better/less ethnic interior than normal chinese restaurant. more western atmosphere. nothing wrong with it. one i went to had valet parking. thats not gonna be somethin u see at normal chinese restaurants. its more..business eating i guess

and yea it costs more. its not really value for money, but then again most anything american and half decent costs more. its why cheap older generation chinese don't like places like applebees or whatever, they look at the price for a burger and that could buy like almost 2 dishes of good stuff at a chinese place. but i guess decent atmosphere, decent bathrooms with soap dispensers that contain something and legal workers costs more;)

panda express anyone

You can get a steak for $4 at a Sizzler too, a lot of red necks swears it's better than any 5 star steak restaurant too. Unfortunately they had never been to one.

Entree price is based on location, PF Changs is an upscale eatery. Prices will be higher.

I have not been to a chinese place yet that was not the same as a burger king/mc donalds level of atmosphere paying less than $10 / entree. Almost all of the 'buffet' style ones are about as low on the totem pole of restaurants you can get.

Go to a real Chinese restaurant instead.

2x the portions, 1/2 the price, and better tasting too.

$10-12 is not costly for decent food.

"overpriced fake American-Chinese fusion cuisine"

How can it be fake? Where can I find some AUTHENTIC American-Chinese fusion cuisine?

My thoughts as well

I've had better "Chinese food" for less money but PF's isn't bad. Definitely not my first choice if Chinese food is on my mind.

Price is above average prices.

Portions are below average portions.

But it's still enough to eat instead of most Chinese restaurants that are just way to much to eat and the food quality has been high in my experience.

There's a chain of restaurants that PF Chang's own called Pei Wei, it's a more casual version of PF Chang's. Most people say that the food is on par (or slightly under) with PF Chang's. It's also 40% cheaper.

It's okay for white people chinese food...even the people working there aren't really chinese. But for the price/satisfaction ratio, i'd go to my local take out place.

Awesomer!

Price/portion isn't bad at all. We always take some home. Get the cabbage leaf w/fillings appetizer (after reading the other posts, that would be the lettuce wraps). Tasty!

actually I like Pei Wei a bit more than changs... like you said its casual and pretty cheap.. but the menu is the best part.. much different menu and style..

but for the sit down date place PFs does indeed rock..

and yes the lettuce Wraps do rock..

It's better than your local "China Cafe" or "Panda Express" that's for sure. The atmosphere is pretty nice. The one by me is a 30+ year old singles hang out by the bar during most happy hours. Expense drinks but the food is reasonable.

I am not Chinese and love american Chinese food, and it is OVERPRICED CRAP!

The one around here is where all these pseudowealthy people go to show off, the type that brag about going to "Panera's (which is also crappy overpriced stuff)" for lunch, when all they could afford to order was a side salad.

It is a place where wannabe snobs go, without the millions to back up the super snop attitude, driving their baby Mercedes.

Not to mention I hate to be able to walk in a place and see everyone eating, no table privacy at all.

As you can see I loathe this place and the type of people that go there.

EDIT: After reading the whole thread, I have some more to add. Yes, we already had this discussion on ATOT, and we concluded that it sucks, but that was before it was trendy.

Moving on to trendy, I completely agree, it is the starbucks of chinese food, people flock there as if they were sheep, to follow to sheep mentality.

And YES $10-$12 portions that are on the small side is expensive, as I can go to about 10 other places around here (without even going to the awesome China Town in philly) that offer much better food and atmosphere for a much better price and bigger servings.
