I mean DAYAM. You can put in freaking anything and get a search result back in a second. I don't know how their search engine or hardware is setup but it's pretty darn good. They must store an awful lot of data and yet their search engine can scan the whole lot of it in a second. Long live google. The rest of the search engines are CRAP!

If Google ever went away, my Internet use would drop about 80%.

In all seriousness Google uses a massive redundant Beowulf type cluster of Linux machines. Long live the penguin. :)

They also have ad's and I'm sure they get clicked, I know I've clicked a few.

That, and some companies pay to get their site as a"sponsored link." You pay Google X amount of dollars, and whenever your keyword(s) is typed in, your link shows up to the right of the search results.

I saw this a while back when I was taking a data mining class in school. Pretty interesting, if you can stomach the inherent joy of sifting through large data sets. :)
