I think when you are in the thread already and just hit quick reply, it doesn't count as a view?

The number of views is a fairly recent addition. So if the thread started before the number of views options was started, you could have more posts then views easily.

Because the number of views hit the maximum integer allowed by int32 and rolled over.

This is it. The thread had a lot of posts long before views was implemented. It doesn't get nearly as much traffic as it used to because nearly everyone ignores it.
