How is gaming on a wireless home network???

Hello, I'm thinking of putting together a wireless home network to share a cable internet connection. One desktop will be on the main floor of the house and the other will be on the second floor, so I cant really just use a huge long cable to connect the two. Anyways, I'm wondering if there are any latency issues when using a wireless router and wireless pci or usb network adapter when playing online games like unreal tournament 2k4 or Counter strike type games. using the same computer, i gamed on my 100mbit lan connection, and then switched to my wireless connection, and the ping was the exact same.

Silky smooth here, but that's just with one game/voice server and two clients.
