How is apple care for iPhones?

I have been using best buys warranty $14.99 a month, no dectuctable, they are supposed to give you a loaner phone and fix/replace within 3 days.

Friend went to use it they don't have loaner phones, said they only fix don't replace and he should provide his own loaner, basically way different then what they claim. They told me all the above on my 4s and again on my 5 on sat.

So thinking about dropping them and going applecare, is there a 1 year or how does it work? Anything to look out for with it?

i would just go here. Took them half an hour to do my cracked 4S and they offer a crazy 99 year warranty (will we be even using phones in 99 years? 15 years?)

I've only used it once, but I walked in and they just swapped it on the spot. My phone had been randomly rebooting, so a genius transferred my data to a new one and I left. Can't get more painless than that.

Best Buy's extended warranty plan is $15 a month, which doesn't provide you with a new or refurbished phone when you use it.

Apple's extended warranty plan is $99 for an extra year above the 1 year that they provide. On top of that, they cover 2 incidents accidental damage for $50 each which means they will get you a refurbished iPhone for stuff you are at fault for.

The regular warranty, the 1 year that comes normal with every iPhone, is pretty good too. Yeah it doesn't cover accidental damage but Geniuses at the Apple Store have some leeway about replacements.

I have the VZW $9.99 TEC insurance with my phone, the deductable is $169 but it covers absolutely anything happens to my 4S. My buddy at work is on AT&T and has applecare, he dropped his phone and had a cracked screen. Went into the applestore and they swapped it on the spot with a new iphone 4S. All he had to do was pay the $50 deductable. That occured last month and he cragilisted the phone for $400 (it was a 32gb) and moved to an iphone 5 at retail.

My upgrade comes up in the end of December and I will be dropping the insurance then (why keep it when you have an upgrade?)

I will ABSOLUTELY be getting applecare the next go around, only thing is it doesnt cover theft. But thats what findmyiphone and a sawed off shotgun is for (right?).

I just checked that out, those are some good prices for the DIY kits. I have seen cheaper, but not by whole lot.

How much was it to get it replaced in person?

Can you get applecare anytime on your phone? I have had my 5 since Sat can i just go into the store and add it?

When they first rolled it out it was at point of sale (IIRC), but I think that only applies if you buy it in the Apple Store. You may want to swing by and find out. Raise a moderate stink if they give you any grief.

Buy it within 30 days of your iPhone purchase at Apple Retail (requires inspection of the iPhone & proof of purchase). Your iPhone purchase date is the date we ship and charge you for your order.


Hmm i might be out of luck bought mine on Craigslist so no proof of purchase. I will swing by the store and see what i can do this weekend.
