~~How is a Wide screen "17 LCD for everyday/gaming use?

I am considering getting a 17" LCD widescreen or a regular 18" LCD cannot afford 19" that I like.

I do Run XP which has support for widescreen. How do games run on widescreen 16:9 LCDs?

anyone own one

Where is this PC 17" widescreen? I've been looking for one for a long time but could only find them on Macs! :frown:

It's been out for the last 4 years... SGI (Silicon Graphics Inc) 1600SW 17.3" 1600x1024 16:10 manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric Ltd in Japan.

the SGI is an excellent monitor, not ideal for gaming though

I use a Samsung 172W as a secondary LCd and it is great. I watch DVDs on it and use my 191t for games

What's the resolution on your Samsung 172W? I think I remember looking that up a while ago and found something funky about the resolution (like it was a regular 4:3).

I like the Mac's Widescreen, unfortunately they don't sell a stand alone 17" Wide (i.e. iMacs and 17" Powerbook) running at 1440 x 900. That would be nice.

Go with the 18" LCD. A typical 18" LCD is roughly 25% larger in the physical display area, 33% larger in desktop area and still has a widescreen picture 94% of the size of a typical 17" widescreen LCD.
