How interchangeable are firebirds and camaros?

I was at the junk yard today picking up some little odds and ends for my camaro and I seen some Firebirds from the same generation with a lot of good body and interior parts. I was wondering how interchangeable they are? I know the engines are the same and a lot of the interior and electrical stuff, but what about doors and hoods?

This is the fourth gen I am talking about. 1993-2002

Also I know that the 98-02s have a somewhat different body styling on the front end.

I am looking at getting a firebird hood and possibly the doors if they would fit.

i would think the doors would fit, i know the hood will not. the birds have the pop up headlights and the camaro does not. also the nose is different. i believe all of the chassis and engine components are the same.

FYI-Those two words should never ever ever go together.

Pretty much all the exterior styling components (except for windshield, sail panel, and t-tops) are different. Take a look at the camaro and the bird side by side... nothing matches really.

For the Camaro, the doors are the same 93-02. Hood, fenders, bumper, headlights are different 93-97 and 98-02. Basically, from the doors back the exteriors are virtually identical for the whole 4th generation.

You're not helping the Camaro's image :p

Dude, being a member of a forum for F-bodies, it saddens me to read the horrible grammar and spelling that a lot of the people have.

I can't believe people have such a limited grasp of their primary language that they can't spell or use sentence structure my 6 year old has mastered.

It's actually embarrassing for me as an American to hear other Americans talk like that. I've met plenty of people from all over the world who grew up speaking other languages who speak English better than many American citizens do. I'm not even going to get into the fact that most Americans only speak one language...and fail miserably at that. You would think that speaking only one language you'd be a fucking master of that language right?

There is no excuse for it. Anyone who says I seen something should have never been given a high school diploma.

Are you guys seriously getting upset because he said "I seen"? That's a colloquialism. Maybe if you would pick up a book on linguistics you would understand that there's nothing wrong with people in different regions, socioeconomic groups, etc speaking their own dialects. That's just what happens, and it's how languages evolve. I don't see you speaking Old English or Elizabethan English.

No, I'm not seriously upset about it, it was just a minor rant, but it does make the OP come off as some ignorant hick by talking that way. And no, it's not a colloquialism, it's just plain improper English.

You already think of him as an ignorant hick by owning a Camaro. What he said had little to do with it.

Basically. The "dialects" don't evolve because of region or local, they develop because the people in areas are fucking stupid and make up words because they don't know the correct one to use. Or they make shit up to try and sound cool. Fizzle Nizzle. Fo'shizzle.

Now driving a Camaro makes you a redneck hick. Driving a Trans-Am means you're a real man. :p

:D

I like the new Camaro personally. It's too bad Pontiac is gone, I would have liked to see a Firebird/Trans-Am version of that car. The only part of the Camaro I don't care for is the dash layout and that funky looking gauge pod...otherwise, it is full of win.
