How instrumental were R2-D2 and C3PO?

Just watched Episode 2 again tonight and a question popped into my head. Since technically C3PO is ownee by Anikin, and R2-D2 by Padme', then that means that they would then technically become Luke and Leia's droids after their father became Darth Vader and their mom died. Now also thinking further, considering the amount of things that these two droids contributed to in the movies so far, I've considered how much they played a part in Darth Vader's own downfall. Maybe not directly, but definately in some manor or another.

What do you think?

It would be kind of ironic if C3PO and R2-D2 ended up being Vader's fall. Brought down by his own androids. :)

I'm still trying to figure out why Luke's uncle didn't recognize C3P0 when he ended up back with him in Star Wars...

That is true. The other thing is that by the time Lars saw him again, it had been almost 20 years. You tend to forget things in that time. :)

3PO had a little (cough) incident with the Robovac for which he still has not been forgiven.

some have the opinion that the whole series is based on their adventures. that was one of the ideas lucas had about sw in general.

Well overall I still find it funny how they had so big of a hand in the downfall of the empire. Especially that spunky little coffee can known as R2-D2. My favorite droid from SW. :)

I wish they were real. :)

I thought you were going to ask how musical they were - you know, beatboxing with those cool synth noises.
