How in the world do I get the Quick Reply back?

Where is option to enable the Quick Reply located? This isn't a gripe, I just can't find it.

I've searched about everywhere I know.... :|

As far as I can tell there isn't one. However, something I noticed yesterday, if in Profile - Personal Options you have "Discussion Interface Type" set to Standard rather than Enhanced, you lose the ability to Quick Reply. Standard removes all the avatars, emoticons, and navigation icons leaving a drop down box at the top of the thread to select subscribe, add to favorites etc... but not Quick Reply. If you already have this set to Enhanced the little U-Turn icon at the top and bottom of each thread is Quick Reply.

Not sure if this is a bug or not or whether this applies to you but hope that helps.

There's the problem then. I've always used the Standard interface, because it seems faster and I don't really care about Avatars, etc. I'll change it and see if makes a difference.
 
mine's set to standard and I still have the quick reply.

(I just changed it to test, the emoticons and avatars went away but the quick reply is still here)

Strange. It must be a bug of some kind then. I just checked again. When set to Advanced, I've got the Quick Reply icon but when I switch to Standard here's what the drop down box reads:

Topic Options
Subscribe to Topic
E-mail Topic
Add Favorite
Print Topic

No Quick Reply.

quick reply works in firefox and firebird here. stupid java script popups don't work though...even if i supposedly unblock all..or just atforums. firefox nothing works, firebird .7 get some pop up screens for java script buttons sometimes,,othertimes not so lucky...bah
 
I get the quick reply in IE under XP, Firefox under both XP and Mac OSX, Safari in OSX, Mozilla in Suse linux and Windows. Don't know what is up. been there for me since the upgrade to the new forum software.

 
At the top of every thread on the right hand side (in the orange/blue bar) are five small icons. The first one on the left is quick reply. It's a U shaped arrow. Click that, then click "dock" and you have your quick reply window at the bottom of every thread.

I'm using IE 6, BTW.

I first switched to Enhanced mode and docked the Quick Reply at the bottom of the screen. I switched back to Standard mode a few hours later, and the QR dock has remained at the bottom.

It works the same using both IE6 and Firefox.
 
Thanks BW. This thread has gotten somewhat sidetracked from the original problem. That is assuming that the last few posts weren't concerned with whether or not you had "Discussion Interface Type" set to Standard rather than Enhanced. If you folks were testing it both ways then disregard this. Here's a quote from an earlier post.

It's not that BlueWeasel couldn't find the Quick Reply icon, it's the fact that at least for the two of us, it doesn't show up in the drop down list that replaces these icons when using Standard mode.

Anyone else that is interested in this problem could you please check whether this happens for you in Standard vs. Enhanced mode and post your results as well as what browser you're using.

Oh, OK, now I understand what you're saying 😱

Using the Standard mode, there is no option for the Quick Reply in the drop-down list. The only way I could enable the QR would be from the Enhanced mode. Once it was enabled AND docked using Enhanced mode, I could switch back to Standard and the QR box would still be present.

However, I can't do anything to the QR while in Standard mode. I have to go back to Enhanced if I want to disable or undock it.

That's regardless of what browser I use...IE6 or Firefox.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. For the two of us Quick Reply doesn't exist in drop down list box in Standard mode and I thought that maybe that was a bug. Especially since spyordie007 posted this:

Otherwise I would have just figured that it was a design decision not to include it in the Standard mode, it being more of an Enhanced feature. If it shows up for him in Standard mode and not for us then it's got to be a bug.

BlueWeasel, maybe you should change the title to something along the lines of "Bug with Quick Reply in Standard mode" with a matching summary. That might get Jason's attention so he can read the thread and reply one way or the other.

I thought I PMed Jason about this two days ago asking him to post in this thread, but when I looked in my PM history just now there's no record of it. Thinking something went wrong with the first PM, I just sent him another and same thing. No record of it in my history, so I don't know whether he received either of them.
 
Just an FYI, quick reply is not supported unless you are using Enhanced mode in your profile --> personal options. (default)
