This heatsink is welded on or something, how do u suppose I get it off to get my much quieter zalman heatsink on.

And please, don't say just yank it off, because i just might. I hate it right now!!

It's the Gigabyte model.

Undo the screws (in the back) or just push the plasic pins together to make it come out. Sometimes you need to sort of twist and pull so the HS compound comes undone.

I can't believe you found a picture of that card, I looked forever. But, since I posted I have had the weekend to play with it.

I ran the most graphics intensive programs I own, for as log as I could. Then I removed the card as fast as I could and attempted to remove the heatsink. It has a bracing bar across the back, so i took it off and started gently pulling.

It took some elbow grease but I finally got it. When I removed the heatsink, I realised that the damn thing is held on with like some sort of thermal glue (which barely worked). And there was a super adhesive putty strip across the memory.

What a horrible heatsink solution. It took me an hour to clean off all that glue crap, but I got it, and I thank everyone for trying to help, I appreciate it. ;)
