How important is the HTspeed of AM2 boards when it comes to upgrading to AM3

I have noticed is that the AM2 boards with the Hyper Transport 1000MHz (2000 MT/s) do have a noticeable significant slow down on AM3 cpus's compared to those with the 2600MHz Hyper Transport (5200 MT/s). Also i have noticed that the boards with Hyper Transport 1000MHz seem to overvolt the phenom 2's. Has anyone encountered this same phenomenon? Maybe im just very picky.

AM2 boards do not have separate power planes for CPU-core and CPU-NB. If you're purchasing a new board for a Phenom II or Athlon II CPU, AM2+/AM3 boards are highly recommended.

HT speed itself isn't much of a factor of performance, except when IGP performance matters. Since HT transfers data from CPU and NB (not to be confused with CPU-NB), IGP performance is better with faster HT speed. If you are using a discrete GPU this becomes a non-issue.
