How important is monitor bandwidth

After having read many monitor reviews, I noticed some monitors have 110Mhz bandwidth, some 157Mhz, and others 203Mhz. Anyone out there know What is the importance of monitor bandwidth and how does it affect monitor performance (if it does)? Thanks for replies.
 
The higher the bandwidth, the higher your frequency can be at different resolutions. High bandwidth is important for very high resolutions for flickerfree image quality
