:music: Money, get away.
Get a good job with good pay and you?re okay.
Money, it?s a gas.
Grab that cash with both hands and make a stash.
New car, caviar, four star daydream,
Think I?ll buy me a football team.

Money, get back.
I?m all right jack keep your hands off of my stack.
Money, it?s a hit.
Don?t give me that do goody good bullsht.
I?m in the high-fidelity first class traveling set
And I think I need a lear jet.

Money, it?s a crime.
Share it fairly but don?t take a slice of my pie.
Money, so they say
Is the root of all evil today.
But if you ask for a raise it?s no surprise that they?re
Giving none away.

Yes, money is important. But not the most important thing. Family, health and happiness are more important.

Money is important to support those things. And it is the lifeblood of it, but not it itself. It is not something that buys you material possessions to show off your status. That is not happiness, that is consumer whorism.

I only use what I need, even though I will be on a computer engineering salary (I'm going to pursue phD). Everything else will be invested. Maybe one day I'll spend more, but for now no.

try and get a good wife with no money, try and live a full life without paying for some sort of healthcare, unless of course your families pulls their own teeth and does their own operations. money makes the world go round. nice big screen TV sure made me happy

It's a tough one for me because I would love to have a job that made me happy, if I made a decent pay.

But I would be very happy if I had a job that made excellent pay, even if I did not like it.

Hmmmmm...I suppose I would take the superior salary in this case because as long as I have been working (16 years), I have never been happy with a job, because to me work is work. After some time, any job becomes tedious and repetitive.

Well I don't have a wife or a girlfriend. I figure if that is what it takes for them to love me then they really don't love me for myself. There are sliding fee scales at some places. Like everything else the quality of the doctors and nursing staff fluctuates. There is also medical universities. I am not trying to insult you are anything, but I know life is hard and being rich or wealthy is a fleeting thing sometimes. When it comes to women there are a couple things I look to. Loyalty and if the woman is bright or intelligent. Looks do matter somewhat, but not the most important thing. Also a good personality is important.

Perhaps it is just me, but I have worked at places that I hated working at and it took all I could do to work there. After I got off work I would still feel stressed and uncomfortable, couldn't sleep, wondered why I exsisted. I think I want a decent job that I like and don't need all that much money to get by on. Like I said I mean you no disrespect. I was just wondering what people thought about this. Perhaps someone would say something to make me think otherwise. Plus it would probably be a decent intellectual conversation.

Thanks for replying.

Well, I would never marry a consumer whore. And actually, the way I would live I would have more money because I would have invested it, not spent it on somthing.

I said health goes before money. But I'm not going to an allergy doctor or other bs. I've gotten allergy shots and pills and all that stuff, and then I started living more healthy and the allergies pratically vanished. I'll go to a dentist, an eye doctor when I notice problems, or a general doctor when I notice general problems.

Sure I'll get a nice TV. I won't spend more than $1000 on it tho.

When I'm talking about consumer whores, I'm talking about the people that have to have a new car every 5 years or fewer. I'm still going strong with my 1992 Accord. People that line their walls with DVDs, several of them still in wrappers because "i haven't gotten to those ones yet." The people that have to live in large homes even if that means living to their necks in debt. The people that just have to travel around the world. The ones that make their budget their salary, or worse...beyond their salary.

I'm 21 and I have a year left in college. I'm going to start a Roth IRA with Vanguard's wellington fund this Fall. As soon as I graduate, I'm going to give as much money to 401k as the company matches. I'll do mutual funds too.

Generally money isn't that important. But unfortunately I can't yet afford the luxury of a new cat for my Volvo so that the ECU doesn't hold boost back. :(

Well, I'm not sure. It depends on how much I hate it. Money's not all that important to me, as long as I make enough to make a living off and do something fun once or twice a year it's okay with me.

Very important, because I'd rather put forth the extra effort now so I don't have to later. The idea of working until I'm 65 in a mediocre job absolutely pains me, and right now I could retire by the time I'm 32; I'll spend the rest of my years doing more noble things that don't pay as well (e.g. teaching).
