How important is 1T vs. 2T?

Well I've been messing around with this Corsair XL. I was getting very frustrated as I've seen many reviews showing 260+ fsb at 2.5-3-3 timings with this stuff.

I couldn't get mine to boot into Windows at 230 even at 2.5-3-3-6 @ 1T. I tried 2.7, 2.8, and 2.9 vdimm and that didn't seem to matter. I even tried 3-4-4 timings at 250 fsb to see if lax timings would help but still no go.
I had just about given up when I decided to try 2T and now I'm posting this at 250 fsb @ 2.5-3-3-6 on 2.8 vdimm.

My question is how much of a difference does 1T vs. 2T really make? Would high fsb speeds make up for the difference of let's say 2-2-2-5 @ 200 mhz 1T? Also, why can't I do 1T with this ram? What could be the reason?

Thanks for any help because honestly I'm at a loss right now. :(

1T vs. 2T is HUGE

i don't remember how many mhz more you need to make up for the difference...

i remember reading people running 300 mhz with 2T but getting better bandwidth scores with 1T at only 270ish...

but i can't remember the numbers exactly :)

try reading xtremesystems.org... there are some good threads over there on latency and 1T vs 2T :)

Thanks Shim. :)

Just ran SuperPI and all I can say is WOW...1T sure does make a huge difference.

I just finished reading some more reviews and it seems like everybody is getting 250+ even at 1T. What could be holding me back?
