How important, if at all, is System Burn-in?

Ive been "burning in" for about a day now on a new system that I just built..

just curious as to how important, and why it is better to burn the system in...
just the way I have been taught to do after every finished system...

any ideas?

thanks

I do it if I'm building for someone else. In my experience, most things that fail will do it fairly quickly, especially hard drives. (IBM excluded, of course 🙂) I just feel better running the system through its paces for a few days before giving it to someone. Mostly for peace of mind, but I have had a few drives die fairly quickly and I was glad they did before I had much loaded.
