I can see my neighbor's ass crack. He's bending over to pick up some grass clippings. Where's my slingshot?

Pfft, you don't need a slingshot. Just sneak up on him & stick your finger in there. That'll show him.

I just spit diet pepsi all over my monitor.

I've heard that Bondo makes a great crack spackle.

Once he realizes it's time to do his taxes he may cut back. You can hide a lot of stuff, but unless you own a bunch of shell companies and swiss bank accounts you can't hide your income -- or your lifestyle -- from the IRS.

I had a friend who make Fake IDs. He was damn good at it and running quite a brisk business until tax time came around. Then he realized he had $2000 of unreportable income that month that he needed to hide. So he sunk it into a car stereo. After that he stopped making IDs.

All he has to do is stay liquid or keep the cash on hand, and spend with cash. I don't know why he would even think of reporting that income. Don't accept credit cards or atm cards for gods sake, cash only! Unless he writes receipts there is no trail.

He also burns DVDs and sells them to kids at our school

Call the MPAA on him.
Seconded. The modded Xbox and warez'd games I could understand, but selling someone else's stuff, and pulling RMA switcheroos are big no-nos. In terms of illegality even, the warez is a civil offense, the RMA is criminal fraud, and I'm pretty sure the selling is criminal, but I don't know the exact crime category.

Answere to your last question is copyright infringement.

Copyright infringement is a civil offense though, as shown by the RIAA lawsuits against music sharers. I'm pretty sure selling material like that is a different offense.

If you've ever heard the phrase "your lifestyle does not match your income" you'll understand why that doesn't work.

What reason would they have for an audit? Unless he's been tipped off to the feds, there's no reason to look into his lifestyle. Keep it in cash, spend in cash. The IRS isn't monitoring everyone's spending habits, audits are fairly random. All he has to do is pay his taxes on his reported income. Oh, and no banks.

I've heard that it's usually deduction claims that cause an audit...

They don't(really) care about small-time folks. If you're buying houses and cars with cash, they might perk their ears up, though.

Yeah, but get a loan and pay the mortage. As long as the payments don't exceed your reported income everything should still be fine. I think any cash purchase over a certain amount may trigger some alarms.

I think even the audits for people who do deductions are random, its a logistics issue. They cant audit everyone who deducts.

yeah that's like a hobby to him... he's gonna have to come into some sorta trouble before he'll actually stop. Good luck with that.
