How I make a 200GB internal hard drive compatiable with my laptop externally?

Anyone ever turned a 200GB internal HD into an external HD (via a 3.5" enclosure) for there laptop before? I was thinking of buying the Seagate 200GB for $99, but wasn't sure about the 137GB capacity limitation. My laptop is a HP 4700 with AMD XP-M 2800+ processor. Just wondering how this would work. My laptop only has a 30 GB 4200rpm hard drive (I was trying to save some dough).

What is this that I hear about a 3rd party controller card? How does that work with a laptop?

Does your laptop have Firewire or USB 2? If not, you may want to get a PC Card adapter. You'll have to check the enclosures' specs to see if there are drive size limitations.

Not sure but the 137gb barier is a windows problem and there is a patch for it. In fact I saw one at the seagate site the other day.
