That was pretty lame to read. He never liked SWG and he didn't do much to cause its demise, the guy is lying to himself and full of it. So he monopolized some servers and the merchants around it, big deal. The game was broken at its core.

Looks like the delusions of a self-important individual to me.

"My actions on 4 servers destroyed this game! Really! Trust me!"

How exactly did he destroy SWG? Sounded more like a simple explanation of how he was making RL cash off the game.

Which I don't have a problem with, as long as they aren't hacking or something to do it. I'm jealous, of course, but that doesn't make it wrong.

my fav line in that whole story is the fact that 90% of his notes were useless.

Nope - he didn't contribute anything to the demise - the devs did that with the NGE/Jedi Village. :)

I wonder if this is the same person I read about who also exploited the system to dup resources in order to gain a lot of in game credits to resell to "gold farmers". He made enough $$$ to pay off his house and have a 6 figure salary to boot.

Seems like he actually helped the game...

Between my friend and I several thousand dollars were made off that game over several months. It was a great game to make money off.

I personally believe that if no one is wanting to buy preleveled characters, your game is too easy.

Is anyone actually buying SW TOR characters? And if so, for more than like $20?

You can level to 50 in 2 weeks. I did at least and I probably did it slow, I imagine people are doing it in 2 days.

So I have no idea whether people are buying SW TOR characters or not, but why would you?

if you have no life and play 24/7, then yeah, pretty much anything is possible.

I wonder if this was the "chick" on Starsider that sold a bunch of crap outside of Coronet for outrageous prices. I never bought anything from "her", but this sounds a lot like something they would do.

This person didn't kill the game, they're just an attention whore. The game died when they changed the mechanics to emulate WoW and failed miserably.

I thought that was a pretty good story. He should write for a magazine.

This guy has an ego that needs to be validated. He may have done what he did by gobbling up game real estate. But it didnt kill the game.

I may be missing something but is he talking about SW:TOR, the MMO that was just released on Dec 20, 2011, less than 3 months ago? Or is there some other Star Wars MMO?

Oh I see, this is Star Wars Galaxies. Never mind.

I don't understand how he thinks he controlled anything. Undercutting was rampant in that game, eventually everything was devalued to essentially nothing specifically because of hologrinding. Grinders sold everything they made while grinding for just a few credits, there's no way anyone could have controlled the market. Sure, he could have made a ton of money, but he's overestimating his importance.
