How hot is your laptop?

Well, I decided to make a thread on how hot your laptop runs. I ran my own tests, with software, and with a thermometer. You do not have to run any tests at all. Most retail computers have a way to monitor temps (mainly by third-party software).

My own laptop is an Inspiron 5150, with a "mobile" P4 @ 3.06 GHz. All of these temps are read from BIOS sensors by I8kfangui.

Full speed switches between 3056 MHz and 1539 MHz (mainly stays at 3056 MHz)
Half Speed stays at 1539 MHz.

CPU internal, load, CPU at full speed, anywhere from 58C-69C (depends on ambient)
CPU internal, load, CPU at half speed, 38C-46C (also depends on ambient)
CPU internal, idle, CPU at full speed, 29C-35C (also depends on ambient)
CPU internal, idle, CPU at half speed, 27C-32C (also depends on ambient)

HD internal, idle, 43C-47C (also depends on ambient)
HD internal, load, 53C-61C (also depends on ambient)

I did these temps at full load, full CPU speed, with a crappy digital thermometer that maxes out at 112.2F. All of these temps are way too high (anything over 110F should definitely not be on a lap).

Ambient Room Temp ~78 F

CPU (section of case right below CPU) , max (112.2 F)
HD (case) , max (112.2 F)
USB, 109.7 F
LAN, 107.0 F
Touchpad, 101.7 F
Bottom of the LCD bezel, quickly jumped above max (112.2 F)
Battery Bay (empty), 99.7 F

So, Ill add a poll soon, and you can show the forum your temperatures.

Sorry about the various tests being in F and C (ill convert to all C soon).

Dell i9200 with 128 meg mr9700
P-M 1.8GHz (400MHz FSB)
Locked PLL, so no overclocking
Idle about 28C lowest 600MHz 0.7v, and 32C 1.8GHz 1.1v no fans.
Highest at 100% load about 52C after fan turns on.
Centrino Hardware Control and undervolted to 1.1v at 1.8GHz.
Fan mostly off with I8kfanGUI (on at 55C, off at 46C).

Ambient Room Temp ~80 F (drops to about 77 F in the winter. Birds)

Thinkpad T42: Idle (600MHz) 35-37C Load (1.7GHz) ~50C
40GB 5400RPM, 64MB Radeon 9600, 15" screen
Fans are always quiet, sometimes I can feel it blow a little more but usually not running

hp ze4610 with self-installed 5400rpm seagate Hard drive
proc is amd athlon xp 2500+ undervolted a bit
around 45-55 degrees idle (the computer lets the temp go up to high 50's before the fan kicks in)
i've seen it hit 60 degrees load (when not undervolted)

hard drive is 51degress idle (i know, way too hot, poor design flaw, i think).
seen it hit 55 on load...

Had the chance inadvertantly to test this on my M70

Cruising along the web, not running anything but a browser and noticed my temp reported by fangui was 60c. Never seen that except when the AC is off and I've been gaming all night.

Checked task manager and it turned out Firefox was the cuplrit, pushing the CPU to 100%, must have choked on some bad java or somthing.

Fans weren't even on high. So I went to fangui and forced the fans to high. Knocked the temps down to somewhere in the 50s. But curiously even under fangui manual control the M70 fans won't stay on high they knock the speed back down after a few minutes.

After torturing my laptop a bit more to see if there where any ill effects from the high temps, killed firefox and the temps rapidly dropped down to the 40s.

Really nice thing about the M70 is the fans are pretty quite. I don't notice them on anything but high and the only way I have got them on high is through manually pushing them with fangui.

Hmmm...I have a Dell i9300 and using EVEREST Home Edition v2.01...but it doesn't read my CPU temps, only HDD and GPU.

I have that problem with my Gateway 7426gx...but it only reads HDD temp. There's a CPU temp sensor...but for some reason it's not accessible. Anyone have any ideas?

I'm using the dell specific CPU/GPU/Fan monitor by a cryptic name, something like i8kfangui or something (originaly for the inspiron 8000 series or something). There are reg hacks to make it work with several dell laptops, I believe the i9300 is supported.
