my tb 700@745 is at 48C,

the heatsink on my tnt2 is so hot i cant even touch it for a second without getting burned

and same goes for the heatsink on my motherboard chipset

so, what is the maximum temperature that these things can handle? should I do something like get a better hsf or is this adequate?

That should be normal....My Viper 770 Ultra, gets pretty hot, I won't touch it because I would get burned. As for my Athlon 1.4...it runs at about 51-53°. So I think you should be ok. Have you noticed any strage behavior...things lock up, sound get lost, system reboots or shuts down by itself?

ur tbird is fine, if ur tnt2 is that hot, there could be a problem, they dont produce that much heat, and the northbridge, is it a kt133a? either way, no it shouldnt be so hot that you cant touch it .. noticing any problems from it? ..

its an Abit KT7 but i took the hsf off because the fan was screwing up and replaced with the standard green heatsink.

btw ive never had a problem with crashes, reboots and such
except ever since i replaced chipset hsf with just a heatsink my usb has been working on and off 😕
