how hot is too hot?

Just got a 566 cel for my old asus p3b-f board and I think its running too hot. Have a globalwin heatsink (huge bastard) w/ fan on a abit slotkit 3 running at default. I flashed the BIOS to v1006 which supports the new Cumine cores and set the freq and vol thru that (didnt use the jumpers on the slotkit). Right now running prime95 torture test I'm getting around 60 deg Cel on the CPU via MBM 4.18. This seems way too high??!! I applied heatsink grease so Im pretty sure Im making good contact w/ HS. I tried OCing the chip but it wont go anywhere over the default even if I raise the Voltage up to around 1.75 (havent tried anymore than that). I know I prob have to tackle this heat issue first but my old 300A ran fine at 450 for over 2 years with this same setup Im using now (had old abit slotkit though). Any suggestions???...BTW this temp is with the case open and I also have a 80MM chassis fan in the front of the case pulling air in with the PS fan pushing air out.

 
I'm not intimately familiar with CII's. I do know that three temp excursions to 56C destroyed my P3E 550. Took five months to die, but die it did. This was a borderline CPU, and cA2 stepping. Your CPU might be happy at 60C. But I seriously doubt it!

I made an honest yet crucial mistake with that P3 550. I had a HSF setup that worked just fine on a C366 @550, for at least six months. I added a 38 cfm Delta monster to the small HS, and figured that this would hold her 'till the Alpha PEP-66 got here. I mean, the new glass Intel CPU's only get 66% as hot as the old copper clad one's did. Right? Sure, right.

*Counter intuitively, the cooler running cute tiny glass slugs need much better cooling if they are OC'd than the older, bigger and hotter war horses.* This is inescapable fact.

So, get an Alpha PEP-66, and a monstrously loud fan for it. I don't care how big the GW is, it's not good enough.
 
I seem to remember that the heatsinks for the older Celerons had the clip in a different position compared to the Cel2's ,this could mean your heatsink is poorly mounted ,not making full contact with the cpu!
