I think it's been said that 65c is the max you want for Core2Duo if you don't want to burn the processor up. The original 65c guideline was about B3 processors, which has Tjunction of 85c. Now that Intel has increased Tjunction by 15c to 100c for G0 and M0 C2Ds, does this mean that the actual processor load temp would be safe at up to 80c?

I'm delayed in going from B3 to G0. I window-shop for E6850s and Q6600-G0's, waiting for Penryn, when I'll probably then wait some more.

Just based on info absorbed here, in the news and reviews -- they went from 65nm to 45nm, packing more into less space. I'm guessing the most vulnerable parts of the CPU for damage from heat haven't changed much.

Get the spec for the TCASE temperature threshold from Intel. That's your guideline. Unless you can find some new information in web-searches for the expected difference between TCASE and TJunction core temperature averages, I'd also stick to the older guideline that it's supposed to be 10 to 15C. But of course, you could simply check the difference by running temp monitoring software that reports TCASE while running CoreTemp at the same time.

Is that CoreTemp 0.96? Author thinks those temps are 15C too high and will be corrected in 0.97. I go by Speedfan and AbitEQ. Max I get is 72C. I'm ok with it; it's probably going to be fine.

My B2 is at 55-97C. Beat that!

Oh, and BTW, Intel has posted their new M0 and C0 stepped Core2Duo/Extreme Mobile processors on their website processor spec finder already.

Lol 97C Nice. I think I might push to 3.6Ghz to go for that too lol.

What does your second statement mean?
