how hot is too hot? AMD 1700

I have an

AMD Athlon-XP 1.47, 266fsb Palomino 1700
Tt Volcano-5 6cu "copperbase" , 4550rpm, 1.5ghz
2 x 256 266mhz pc2100 ddr crucial cl-2.5
antec sx1040 tower 400w. 4 internal fans installed


just trying to find out the "normal" operating temp and how hot is too hot..?

Depends on a lot of different factors.

Ambient Case temp
MB type
Thermistor Placement on your MB
What program you're using to load the CPU.
