How hot does your SBlive run?

I have a SBlive Xgamer, And recently my system has bee running funny. it has trouble booting up, and freezes. plus, when I boot up, I get muffled noises from my speaekrs matching the Hd sounds. i checked my soundcard, and the Core was pretty hot, hotter than my vidcard and cpu.

can anybody comment on this?

The SBLive EMU10K1 does seem to get pretty hot, especially when you are using EAX and surround....

If it worries you, go out and buy a small heatsink and plop it over the chip.
 
I have the flat version, and it never seemed to get this hot before. I really think my motherbaord is somehow screwed up. 🙁

I see my old thread has been resurrected. 😉

Note though that further testing shows those sound glitches haven't 100% disappeared. But they do seem reduced - definitely not every 30 minutes anymore as I mentioned previously. I'm still not completely convinced it's just the heat, but it couldn't help to be hot I'm sure. (IRQ's are NOT shared for the sound card.) Adding the heatsink does help cool it down definitely though and it makes me feel better.
 
my Sb Live! works just fine. No excess heat no noise in my speakers. But then again i seldom open my case 😛 You over-tweakers always have problems with stuff.........if it didnt blow up in ur face, leave i, u dont shoot with it 🙂
