How hot does your P4 run?

I have a 2.53 with an alpha PAL8942T and AS III. My idle temp is 49 and I get around 56-57 while gaming. Does this sound about right? I do have 3 SCSI harddrives running in it so that may be part of the issue too. So what temp are you running at?

Watch your system temp. It might be on the high side thus causing high cpu temp.

I just built a 2.8G system with a prototype case.
I was able to get 42C loaded temp without using any fancy OC heatsinks.
This is due to the low cpu ambient (26C).

My P4 1.6a@2.4 is 38-39c idle, 48-51c on seti/prime95. I use the retail heaksink/fan. My motherboard temp is 30-32c.

U need a faster/better case fan. Go to http://www.directron.com and get 80mm Vantec ThermoFlow case fans for the rear and Vantec Stealth case fans for the front.

My motherboard temp is at 36. I have a Lian Li case and I am using the stock fans in it. I can hardly feel any air moving out of the fan on top, so I will look at getiing som different fans.

Your 3 scsi drives will raise your case temp ie; the cpu temp quite a bit/ try a good exhaust fan/ I use the radio shack fans, the 110v 1's with good results.

I have a P4 2.4 with the ThermalTake Volcano 7+ all copper hsf and I idle at 42C and at full load it jumps to about 50C.....the first time I got this cpu and saw temps these high, I paniced like hell. My old P3 Idle at 27C and at full load, would only be 36C. But then I realized now that P4's tend to run hotter. Atleast its not as hot as some AMD chips. I heard they idle around 55-60C or something.

mobo temp is 30c idle 34c load
cpu temp is 39c idle 45 loaded

2.8 @3150 using artic silver 3 and four case fans and a cpu fan and my scsi hdd has a hdd cooler but the fans aren't loud but you can hear them spinning


edit<this was after re-applying the artic silver 3 the second time and with my heatsink and cpu lapped
