How hot does the computer heat up your room(s)?

Just out of curiousity - how much hotter do you think having a computer on 24/7 makes your room(s)? I've had mine on for a while for about a year now in my room - never really noticed a heat difference until lately. I thought maybe the AC isn't blowing into this room but apparently it was the computer that drove up the temperature by about 5-10 degrees - it's instantly noticeable walking from the hallway into the room.

It's a P3-500, 250w ps, no case fans. Would upgrading to something better reduce the heat or does it really not matter?

I have 5 computers running 24/7 in a single room. I don't really notice much of a temp difference going from room to room. But I keep the a/c on to where it comes on pretty frequently, and the thermostat is in the room with the computers.

That P3-500 only uses 13W. What are you going to upgrade to that uses less? If you have a CRT it is producing ~10x as much heat.

Keeps my basement toasty in the winter. I have four running in the basement full-time and don't notice a difference.

noticable. i can feel the room warmer once I step inside. I guess that's my fault for trying to passively cool everything. :p

Turning off the monitor when you're away as opposed to using a screensaver will probably help quite a lot. Will save electricity as well.

yeah the monitors are pretty killer. if they made 18 or 19 or even a 17" LCD that would do 1600x1200 i'd jump on it

I used to have a monitor that made my room about 25 degrees hotter.
If you put your hand on the vent on the top of it, it would actually almost burn.

Got an LCD ... much cooler.
