I recently got a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI to run a second monitor. The card is working fine without any problems, but when I was inside my case I touched the heatsink. It was so freaking hot. I'm supprised I don't have a blister. Are they supposed to be this hot? Is something wrong and going to shorten the life span of it (I got it used)?

Dude, I never knew the V3 were so hot, my V3 3000 PCI was burning off the wall, I put a fan on it, it's better but still warmer then others, I email their tech once, they told me it was normal...

Yeah, I put a fan on mine too to cool it down. I just wanted to know if it was normal to have it SOOO hot.

My voodoo 3 3000 pci used to run at 145+F until I put a p3 heatsink on. Now it is running at 100F.

Nope nothing wrong with yours, the V3 2000's run very hot.Like others have said a fan on the H/S would help cool it down a bit.

I remember back when i had mine, it would some times burn you when you touched it. I was only using the stock heatsink on it, too.

hehe... yeah ALL Voodoo 3's, and even VSA-100 chips run hot. it's just the way they run! I can honestly say though that these things must be built well if they are able to withstand such massive amounts of heat.

I took off the stock heatsink from my Voodoo 3 2K AGP, and popped on a Socket 7 heatsink/fan.. it's a fair amount cooler to touch the back part where the chip is.. still too warm for my liking, but oh well, I could probably boost this to 200mhz now.. nah! 183's fine!

When I first got the card I said, "Why the heck did they put such a huge heatsink on this thing!?" Then after I had been playing NFS 3 I touched the thing. Then I understood.
