How hot do A64 mobo chips get?

Hi.

Cos i was gonna get a chipset/cpu asetek water kit, but all the A64 mobos i see have passive cooling, so they cant get that hot can they? Is it worth WCing them?

Considering you probably wont be able to overclock the athlon 64 past 233mhz the passive cooling should be enough

the amd 64 (not the FX's or opterons) have the "cool & quiet" technology. all that really does is lower the multiplier and vcore when you dont need to full power. so if you plan on running it as a regular day to day machine compared to a renderign machine, you should be alright.

I think you are getting confused with the actual A64 chips. Im on about the MOtherBOard chip.

People are getting very high overclocks with stock cooling on the mb. Even Oppainters rig is only using air cooling for his 31K 3DMark01 run.

So not worth WCing the mobo?
I might get the block anyway, then i can use it on future mobos as well.
