How hot can a gpu get?

I overclocked my 6200, I am wondering how hot can I let it get?


stock

350 mhz core

400 mhz ram

OCD

435mhz core

480mhz ram

I've definately gotten my X800 up to 105 degrees celsius, and yet it still manages to run. I would say that you probably don't want your gpu over 80 degrees, about 70 preferably, but it all depends on the card. Just OC a little at a time, and if your games start to lock up or crash, chances are your card is getting too hot. Just OC accordingly.

im going to go higher i was just wondering. as of now i idle at 31 c

100-120C is high, 120C is very hot, 100C is hot but not a dangeours temperature, 70C is perfectly normal and 60C is a good temperature, lower than that and they are chilly temperatures.

Rule of thumb is, if your card artifacts, its not good enough to run at those clocks, if you set certain clocks and your card runs perfectly at those speeds you have nothing to worry about, if your card runs for 6 hours straight under load with no hiccups, its perfect, as I say OC limit is determined by card stability and not temperature.

I hate when people claim their card is overheating when it gets to 70C under load.

oh ok, I just pushed my card as high as coolbits would alloy. and it idles at 31-36c so im fine, it goes up to about 45-50c under load.

Some of you wonder why i would even oc this, it's because i have more fun pushing my pc to it's limits than i do playing games.

If you really wanna oc that 6200 strap an old copper cpu cooler to it with a better fan and some as5.
