How high is your TV?

And, are you comfortable with its viewing height?

I'm used to having a TV the same as eye level, with the center line of the TV being about 40" off the floor, but I'm thinking about getting a new TV and under TV cabinet that'll bring the center line of the TV up around 47" off the floor. Has anyone else made this move? Did you feel uncomfortable watching a TV above your eye level?

Here is the setup I was thinking about with the TV about 10 feet from my viewing location:

With this table under the TV:

See my biggest problem is my center channel speaker is 10 inches tall and 28 inches wide. Finding a good under TV table isn't leaving me with a lot of choices.

Ours is about 5' off the floor by necessity (no other wall space available) and I like it a lot. I can see it from the kitchen (well, my wife can... you don't want me in the kitchen...) and the office, too.

9' viewing distance, about 30" to the bottom of the screen (65"). Seems to be the right eye level.

47" puts yours about 3" higher than mine:

Mine is about perfect as far a height goes, no neck strain at all.

With a 70 screen I doubt you'd feel any different at a few inches higher.

I can't imagine the height being an issue. I have a 52" LCD over a fireplace. I've read numerous people stating it would cause neck strain or whatever. It's been there over 3 years (and I had a 36" tube in the same place for ~5 years before that) with absolutely zero issues.

Mine is exactly at my eye level whne I am seated on my sofa.
I really HATE TV's that are not at eye level.
You may not be bothered with it, but check it out first.
You can offset the negative effct of being too high by tilting the screen downward slightly.

Mine is about 2" inches higher than eye level to the center of the screen, at a 13 foot viewing distance you can't tell.

42" for me seated eye to floor.

Also, if you're looking to save a few buck, the Lack table I used is very similar to the one you picked (no shiny feet though) and 1/3 of the price $50.

I was looking at some pictures on the site for Assassin HTPC. There was one setup which had a black cabinet with a tower on one side. It looked kind of interesting. I was just looking at different people's Ideas.

My sister has a cabinet that puts the TV at about 4 feet high. Her livingroom is about 12 feet square or so. It enables children to sit on the floor and not be in the way.

My current TV is 40 inch and is on a 2 foot high square pine-factory table. So the TV sits on a stand so it is about 27" off the floor. Viewing distance is about 7 feet.

My mom has a 60 inch samsung and it sits on a stand and the bottom is about 30 inches tall. That is about the height of a counter top. It is in a room that is long about 30feet long or so. The living room is in the front and there is a dining room table behind that area. You can see the TV above the couches and the table. If it was a little higher that would have been ok. I think you can put a large TV as high as 48" if the viewing distance is longer.

Mine is about 30 inches off the floor. I only have a 7 and 1/2 foot ceiling in the home theater, and the projector is tilted ever so slightly downwards, and I didn't want to have to mess with keystone correction. The top of the screen is about 1 foot from the ceiling. Generally, from the front row (floor level) it's perfect. From the back row (raised 8 inches above floor level), it's a bit low, but can still see over the 1st row people.

Mine is slightly below eye level for the top of the screen. The reason is if you look down you might notice that it is easier on your neck and back than looking up which requires you to use your muscles to pull your head up. I never understood this trend to put screens up high just so people don't get in the way of the screen, tell them to sit down !

makes sense, however, many seats do recline...

At my couch's level, I find where I have mine to be a pretty ideal height. I haven't measured but it seems to be similar or slightly lower to others.

And this is how it looks straight on from the couch. I think at eye level is absolutely the way to go, and going up a half a foot really wont take it too far off that point.
