I know that a lot of people have gotten in on the best buy / circuit city 9800 NP deal for $249...

so now... i was just curious as to see how high of an overclock you've gotten...

just put your core/mem and the ram chips (i.e. infineon 3.0 or samsung 2.8 etc...)

Repost -- But for what it's worth my Sapphire 9800NP w/Samsung 3.3ns RAM is doing 398/348 with default cooling. I've got some OCZ RAMSinks on the way...

Sapphire 9800 np, Inferion 3.0ns.

445/330 stable. All default, might add some RAM sinks, see if I can get it any further.
From Ebuyer in the UK.

Wasn't there just a thread on this topic a few days ago?

Anyways - My results:

BBA Radeon 9800 np 3.3ns Samsung

before I got OCZ RAMsinks: 400/290
with RAMsinks installed using bundled thermal tape: 400/330

Edit: flashed to Pro BIOS. Tweaked around with it all night. Max stable (artifact free) o/c: 446/387. 3dmark score here.

One thing I have heard was to stay away from the infineon ram, the samsung is supposed to OC alot better.

I know you asked about 9800 np but for fun:
9700Pro oc'd to 392 Core, 365 DDR with the help of better heatsink/fan (stock sux ballz) ramsinks, and voltage mod. Doing the same to a 9800 could possibly get to insane core speeds.. the ram is pretty much at it's limits, with extra cooling only yeilding 6 to 12 mhz more. but cooler will = last longer.

Interesting note though: identically clocked 9700 vs 9800 will = identical scores in benchmarks, excluding the shader 2.0 tests, which get about 5% higher on the 9800.

Seems to me ATI finally hit on a good core, and have been milking it for over a year now. Hopefully the next one is just as fast. RV300, 350 and 360 are basically the same GPU just different speeds, different die processes (µ size), slight optimzation to one subsection on the 350/360.

Infineon RAM is really poor, mine won't even hit the stock speeds (3MHz under), and the 9800 process gives might higher speeds it seems, pretty much all get over 400, most over 420.
