How high does your CPU go on speedtest.net?

http://www.speedtest.net/

Its strange, just idling there with a dual core cpu and the cores can go from 60 to 70% usage. Is this normal? It does drop to 20 to 30% after a while, but why is this website using as much cpu as a game?

My take: It has something to do with Flash. It has to be, but what? Or is the website overclocking the cpu (haha).

It flickers around a bit but this seems to be snapshot of a normal response...

10% CPU usage here just when viewing the page before initiating the speedtest. Looks to be their flash that is updating the number of speedtests ran to date (if that counter has any basis in reality).

As soon as the speedtest is over, and the flash is no longer updating, then cpu utilization goes to zero.

That is sick. Wicked fast. 5ms ping, drool.

Interesting, I guess I don't feel so bad with a dual core going from 20 to 70% then.
The web has gotten so bloated that we may need a 16 core to just browse it someday.
There maybe no need for prime95, just go to a website and test the temperatures there.
Thank you flash and java!

11% CPU usage on my laptop, I will check my desktop when I get home later this evening.
