Hi guys,

I got P4 2.8GHZ last week. So far I could only get to stabilize at 2.9(138 X 21)@ 1.675V.

I tried to run 3GHZ but will crash prime95 after 3 hours, regardless of voltage.

Man I am disappointed. I was wondering how high others have gone to compare. before this I tested 3 X 2.4GHZ C1 stepping and none could go over 2.7GHZ.

My other CPu before was 2.533GHZ B0 stepping that can hit 2.85GHZ at 1.725V.

My system
P4 2.8 GHZ @ 2.9
ASUS P4PE 1002BIOS
2 X 256MB Samsung original PC2700
Geforce3 TI300
AUdigy
IBM 40GB
using onboard boradcom LAN
USR 56K modem
Yamaha CDRW
Toshiba DVDROM

Man mine must real dud... hitting only 2.950 with 1.725 V.

So I got was able to exchnage my old 2.53 at work for new C1 stepping 2.53. It now running 3097 at 1.7V at home running prime95 for about 8 Hrs. I'll go home and check again to see if it failed. 3150 at 1.7V failed prime after 3 hours.

I think that you probably pushed your memory to hard. Try memtest86 to see if it is stable. And try it with only one module.

I noticed in your sig you have two sticks of mem. try only one stick in the slot closest to the cpu(O.CING 101).
that processor should swim well over 3 gigs w/ out breaking a sweat.

Actually on the ram.

I have 2 x 256MB Samsung PC27000 original ddr and they run up to 193MHZ on different AMD system so they should be good.
Also I have the memory divider at 1:1 so when oclock the ram should not be problem...

I will try just 1 stick tonight see if that will give more oclock :)

sulu17,
Seems like your motherboard is holding you back. You have tried so many chips and all overclocked low. What are the odds?
I think its the motherboard.

Hey guys....Please put your 2.8ghz oveclocks in my C1 overclocking study thread...Thanks....Going to try to make some correlations if we can about how these chips in fact are doing and what mobos (early results seem to be PE mobos) are limiting ppl in getting good ocing out of these c1 chips....
