I just got a Dell XBS-T600r from excess inventory @ our office and was wondering... according to Dell docs it can accomodate up to an 850mhz P3.

So my question is, can i just up the multiplier on this baby to hit 850 w/o having to change the chip?

Any help, suggestion, recommendations gladly appreciated. :)

Nope, the processor is multiplier locked, if the Dell can use 133mhz FSB processors then you might be able to boot it as a PIII800eb(6x133)so see if you can change the bus to 133.

I dont eventhink you can overclock on a DELL... nothing in the dell is probably designed to oc.. its made of crap parts. as for ocing... on a performance system, 600 can get to at least 750, if not higher.

P3's CANNOT be unlocked. the multiplier is FROZEN. DEAD. only thing is to overclock is the FSB -> RAM. Im pretty sure dell doesnt ship high quality mushkin or Kingmax now do they?
