how healthy/unhealthy are cold cuts for lunch daily?

my lunch usually consists of:

white/wheat bread
low fat/lite mayo
roast beef, tuna, turkey, ham fresh from the supermarket deli
munster, yellow american cheese
lettuce and sometimes tomatoes
 

Some studies suggest that 90 percent of all human cancers are environmentally induced, 30-40 percent of these by diet. Preserved and cured meats (bacon, sausage, lunch meats, etc.) are the largest source of nitrites in our diet. Nitrites lead to the formation in our bodies of nitrosoamines, which are important environmental oxidants and carcinogens. For instance, there is a significant association between nitrosamines and stomach cancer.
 
depends on how much meat you put on. i usually put on 1 slice of ham and 2 of turkey on wheat bread with i slice white american cheese, a little lite mayo, extra virgin olive oil and vinegar. tastes pretty good.
 
They are an empty food devoid of almost anything beneficial to you, unless you get the ones cut straight from a hunk of meat. But, if you're getting the processed smushed together junk well you might as well eat a chocholate bar for lunch.

That was pretty much what I was going to say. Check the label for nitrates.

 
i think you should be able to get nitrite-free(and bad-stuff-free) cold cuts at natural/whole/organic food stores.

after that the worst stuff is the sodium/fat content. turkey is probably the healthiest of the cold cuts you mentioned. well tuna is healthier but not a cold cut.

not usually, but you can typically see the packages in the display case. and really if you're at a typical deli there are most likely nitrites.
