How has P&N changed during the Bush Administration?

I pretty much signed off of P&N years ago..but with the election of the 44th president...I feel a new sense of optimism and hope amongst the people. Perhaps it is time to start discussing again.

To those of you who have been around P&N for a while..how have the discussions on P&N evolved the past few years? Or is it really just the same nonsense now as always?

This thread has degenerated enough where it really serves no purpose other than for members of opposing viewpoints to hurl insults at one another, well more so than the usual.

I think they banned most of the conservatives and there is mostly a bunch of left wing wackos left.

PN was split off from OT shorly after the Iraq War started and was then full of the gun-ho neocon types gloating what a marvellous success the war was (since, you know, the war was 'over' by the summer of 2003). Not many, if any, of them are left.

Anyway, welcome back justin. I never did understand where you stood on matters nor why you left... care to fill me in?

This is not a left-wing forum. The moderators keep this place quite centrist and mainstream Dem/Rep from what I have seen lurking for awhile.
I don't know if it safe to show you this without your head assploding..but this is a bona-fide left-wing forum.
Here is another big one.

See? Center-lefties regardless what some so far to the right mouthbreathers say are NOTHING like the denizens of P&N, they generally do not discuss nor care about the same issues around here which are usually Cable TV news mainstream corporate media stuff.

Lay off the radical right-wing talk radio generalizations if you have no clue.
Or keep up the comedy. You are on a roll my friend, do the mainstream Democrats here or independents (usually libertarians which lean right on economics) scare j00?

Edit: linkage

I haven't been around for that long and i've gone from supporting the Iraq mission to despising the business about it especially as it's stolen so many resources from us.

I guess i changed my mind when i went to Afghanistan last time, i think you and i were having a discussion somewhere around there, i dissapeared or you did, doesn't matter.

Welcome back.

Wow.

There's one now!! :p

Eyes on target, stay low, move to the east, set up, it's almost completely windsstill, 3 vertical, zero east horisontal at 300 yards, fire at will.

I see no comparison when it comes to the issues that matter to center-lefties and the Dems/Indys in here.
You get a few bush-bashers (which is about as mainstream as you can get nowadays) besides that what would YOU consider radical leftist about anyone in here?
I am curious as I have yet to see one of these creatures. Enlighten me then please.

I see little evidence of any banning however there is a lot of new Radical Righties since the election of the bane of the Republican party.

Worked tirelessly against their America destroying idealology since the Iraq War and now working on every possible way to make it so uncomfortable here that they leave the country so we can start re-building it after what they have done to it.

It's already starting, Hannity lost his puppet buddy Colmes.

there are plenty of righties in here, even in this thread, and there aren't really many liberals either, others are either standard libertarians or ronpaul loons

Alot of what is written here eventually comes down to "libbies this and righties that". Obviously people have fun with this but it is rather predictable and repetitive.

If you like discussion with a heavy liberal majority then this is the place for you, or if you're like me and enjoy being a part of the minority opinion then this is an interesting site...definately a leftist/liberal slant on the heavy side, but not quite foaming at the mouth..though in an attempt to counterbalance it seems many on the right here exhibit strong fundie personas, cannot tell if this is an accurate reflection of their true beliefs or just them egging on the herd.

I always laugh at the opitimism comment ....I have yet to meet anyone who seems optimistic about anything given the current state of affairs, be it irl or on here.

the good news is that it seems a large number of the true hard core loonbag lefties seem to have taken a breather from this site.

After the GREAT UNBANNING earlier this year, quite a few have returned. For every Dave or Harvey, there is a Butterbean or TLC.

About the predictability aspect, you're correct that sometimes the idealogues ruin the discussion or purposely post troll threads but they quickly expose themselves for what they are: shallow and uninformed. However, every once in a while an interesting thread does emerge and surprisingly doesn't get crapped.

So, welcome back and don't get discouraged.

I do wonder what Steeplerot is up to these days... he/she was always fun to pick on! Hmmm, maybe he/she spit on one too many soldiers...?

It USED to be somewhat centrist but somewhere right around mid 2K4 it took a hard left. It's moderated a bit from it's peak loony leftistness (likely due to the great unbanning) but it's still very much left wing here.
