How hard is to find out where an old friend was buried, so I can pay my respects?

I would like to pay my respects for an old friend that I lost track off. In a conversation with a friend of a friend I found out that the person passed away. The most info I could obtain was she was buried in Hawaii. Do I need to call up every cementary, hire someone? Or is there some public records info I can look up.

Thanks

Calling the cemetery may work, I assume they must have some kind of record of burial. The funeral home can probably help too. I'd start there.
