How hard is overclocking something?

I've never done it before and now changing my mind on a motherboard(will change from being set on msi k8?n sli board to dfi equivalent) if its not that hard to do. Take into consideration I dont know much about computers.

If you're pretty new to computers, then I don't suggest trying to overclock. Not only do you usually need a decent knowledge to tweak your PC, but I guarantee something will go wrong, and you need to know how to fix it. If you're buying a new computer, why not buy a quick machine to begin with? OCing is best for trying to extend the usefulness of an older comp.
