??

I'm talking about INSIDE the walls

Is there any current wiring in houses that allow me to do so?

I remember reading a long time ago that there was a way to do this through your phone lines, but your network speed would be very slow.

Please, for the love of god, either do it wirelessly or do it RIGHT. None of that powerline or phoneline networking garbage. Running CAT5 isn't a big task if one of the following conditions is true: A) You have an attic, crawlspace or unfinished basement adjacent to every room you wish to wire, or B) Your house includes a well-thought-out system of conduit.

Otherwise, USE WIRELESS. It will be faster. It will be more reliable.

If you own a drill, cat5 cable, and a crimper, it shouldn't be too tough.

now if you do not have access to these things, you will need to be very resourcefull and figure something out.

Better to go with wireless, however you can get 14mbps with the current powerline if you have dead spot in the building(60+ mbps is coming in the netxt few months).

[Edit] I rebuilt part of my home last summer/fall and didn't bother to hard wire between floors, because it is hell to rip out the tongue and groove wood wall to drill through 12 inch headers for the cables. In my case it is logical to go wireless for between floors, because it is cheaper & less work.

no, go wired. sweet 1000m/bs wired is getting cheaper...if u run 100mb/s today u will soon be able to go much faster... wireless doesn't touch that. esp if u eventually get a network storage device or something..speed is good. wireless is secondary..for laptops and such.

my home has network cables inside the wall
its installed during the refurbishment period
However, they are not professional, not enough wires are laid
as a result , the living room in my home dont have network socket

I wired the my house when they before they put the drywall up. There is even unused CAT5 hiding behind the walls in the master bathroom. :p

I'm running wired/wireless in my house. I've got CAT5 run to 3 desktops and wireless feeds the laptops and one more desktop. I use a Linksys Wirelss-B Router BEFW1154.
At a time, they were all properly networked and I could access all the other computers on the network. When I upgraded my main computer to XP I lost that capability and now the router just serves out the net to all the puters.
I've never taken the time to go back and get it right. It's not a very sexy learning curve :D

Cliff Notes
1. Go wireless
2. My networking skills are the King of Suck
3. ...
4. Profit!
