How hard is it to switch cases?

I was thinking about purchasing the Antec SLK3000B because my current case is loud, hot and looks ghetto. I have a crappy PSU, a computer left over from January 2001 and all the tools needed. How hard is it to switch out the guts? I have never done it before, is there a step by step guide I can follow?

Thanks,
Jassi

It's exactly the same as building a new computer from scratch, so look for a guide on assembling a new computer.

I know there is a link floating around, I will look for it. If anyone can do me a favor and post it, that would be sweet.

It's not exactly the same, there's not software config or install to do, and a lot of the parts (CPU, RAM, HSF, maybe graphics/PCI cards) you can just leave installed in the mainboard while you move it.

Moving from one case to another is more tedious than it is hard. Just take your time and pay attention to the details, and you should be fine.

I did it about a month ago and it wasn't to bad. if you are working with a nice case then I don't see it as to much trouble (unless you are totally into cable managment). Do it, you won't regret it.

You probably won't have to take out the cpu and the ram, however everything else will be just like building a computer from scratch. Use MechBgon's guide for stuff you aren't sure about, and maybe take a few pictures of the wiring before you rip it apart, if you aren't sure you'll be able to figure out where they go again.

easy. its basically unscrewing and taking everything out and putting everything back and screwing. of course you have to disconnect wires and such and plus those back in.

i'd say hardest part is taking connecting the power button and led's make sure you right down where you had em.
