Well, in 6th grade I use to smoke a ciggarette every single day after school. I decided to stop and I did. Now, after school (10th grade) I have a clove every now and then. A freind of mine (much older [online friend]) tells me I should stop before I get addicted. How hard is it really? And can I get addicted to cloves?

Well..I stopped after that. I'm all stressed out about school now and have a cigar after school now. Yea, I think I made alot of decsisions good and bad when I was little. My little sisters are in 6th grade and are still playing with stuffed animals and crap with no social skills. When I was their age, I started smoking weed.

I had a friend who did all that stuff starting at that age... He deals drugs now. Real winner.

Cloves=cigars? I thought you were talking about marajuana too.

Either way, if you need that to calm down, you should see a stress management session or something. ;)

I am against all substances that affect the nervous system or the cardiovascular system (unless it is prescribed by a doctor). Do I really want a substance to constrict my blood vessels so I get less blood to my brain and in affect feel more relaxed? Do I really want a substance to beat the sh!t out of my liver and make my brain do stupid stuff that I can't remember? Do I really want to smoke something that will make me think crazy thoughts and halucinate just to relax?

No thanks.

My uncle was (is? G-d I hope he finally kicked the habit...) a narcotics abuser. Guess what drug it started with? Yep, you guessed it, mary jane. He is turning 50 soon and has been in and out of so many rehab clinics you couldn't believe. In the 1980s (before his drug problem affected more than his free time...) he was making six figures and driving a high end BMW, where did that money go? Drugs mostly. It ruined one marriage and a ruined his relationship with his girlfriend of a few years. It has also put a LOT of stress and pressure on my grandmother, my father, and, when my grandfather was still alive, him too. I have no respect for the man. I can only hope he is on the the straight and narrow, once and for all. He is lucky he isn't dead or in jail right now. He once showed up at our house (300 miles from his "home"- a crummy basement apartment) homeless and with no job. My dad got him into a rehab clinic. He has fvcked up so many times I lose count whenever my dad talks about it. I missed out on a lot of "cousin things" because each of my parents only has one sibling, so I have two cousins that are 12 and 14 years older than me, courtesy of my mom's sister.

My girlfriend smokes and i want her to quit. She whines and says it's too hard, i think she just has no will power. It's a disgusting, money wasting habit that will probably come between our relationship.

Ask some of your friends who will admit to being addicted to cigarettes if that sounds familiar.

Most clove cigarettes, while they smell and taste better, contain higher nicotine levels than typical cigarettes, and contain other substances in them that literally tear up your lungs.

Quit, now. Quitting is easier when you've only been doing it a while; if you keep it up, well...I think you know where that leads.

i suggest you try working out for stress management - lift weights and such. works wonders, and does your body good. but yes, even once in a while can get you addicted. i have too many friends i've lost to drugs, even just cigaretts, it usually leads to worse things...

Smoking, once you are addicted is one of the hardest things to quit. I have been trying for a long time now, and still have not been able to do it. Protect your health and do yourself a favor, give it up while you still can.

just a little reminder to the brainwashed people out there, marijuana is not a gateway drug i have smoked it for 5 years and i have not wanted to try any other drugs to get a better high, marijuana is enough, i have done about once every month or two with friends i am not dependent on it in any way.

<< And can I get addicted to cloves? >>

I also smoked cloves in high school also. Quite a lot. Technically, it's even more feasible to get physically addicted to cloves as opposed to regular cigarettes, since the tobacco content is higher from what I understand. I smoked a pack a week, and didn't get addicted. However it was a dumb thing to do, and I wish I never smoked at all. Not just for the physical reasons, but for the social reasons (wanting to be part of a certain crowd, etc) It's amazing, once you are willing to physically harm yourself to be accepted by your peers, how far you can take it, in terms of drugs, etc. My $0.02

Well, I don't do it just to be apart of the crowd. Sometimes, i'll be with my friends and i'll be the only one. I've been smoking cigars lately too.

It's hard to say whether it's hard to quit. For me it was quite EZ. I smoked about 3 packs per week from 18-24, then after opening up a few cadavers in grad school with tiny, shriveled, black lungs, I quit. For the last 2 years I've been a social smoker, lighting up about once per week.

Vikaden... You need to understand the direction of the inference...

No one says the smoking pot will lead to harsher drugs, but statistics have shown that people who do harsher drugs started with pot or other lighter drugs. I am pretty sure that is what is being implied.
