How hard is it to raise a crab/lobster?

I've had these weird visions in my head that I was a lobster farmer and then the lobsters turned into golden ants...and then i melted the golden ants and they turned into carbon. I took the carbon and threw it in the volcano and out came a 420 ct diamond.

Anyways, how hard is it to raise a crab/lobster? Does it need lots of stimulation? Or do i just leave it in the tank all day?

is that LSD? or shrooms?

See: Simpsons Episode with Pinchy the Lobster.

But seriously, I dunno. You'd have to find some warm-water lobsters, unless you plan on icing down the water every 6 hours or hooking up a heat exchanger to the tank. I wanted to raise one for my marine science class, but I got lazy and scrubbed the idea. Oh yeah, and lobsters take a while to develop, like 6-8 years, so that may be a problem.

get off the crack!

6-8 years to raise? Man too much effort!

Crustacenas have free-swimming planktonic larval stages. This means that they float in the water and eat even smaller animals that are floating in the water. To rasie them in captivity you would have to have tanks with capacities of tens of thousands of gallons, with special pumps that don't suck the plankton through an impeller, and be able to perfectly recreate the web of life found in marine water. That's not going to work. To do it in the ocean you'll need acres and acres of coastal real estate and a means to enclose it and keep predators out. You'll also need divers with marine biology degrees to monitor and tend the crop. Still sound like something you want to do?

Is that all there is to it? Hell, I thought it might be hard.

You could just buy a live lobster and feed them feeders...

One important factor if you want to raise a lobster!!
DO NOT I REPEAT DO NO USE FRESH WATER!!! ----------- SALT WATER ONLY! --------------!!

just raise midget lobsters. Crawfish!!!

Crabs on the other hand are real easy to get and raise. Just hang around the bus station or bowling alley and look for girls not wearing underwear.

*not to fatbaby....never...ever...under any circumstance say crabs in ATOT...there are way too many people here that are only familiar with the pubic variety
