how hard is it to make wood cabinets darker??

depending on the finish they have now it can be easy to pretty nasty.
what are they finished with? are they wood?

If they are already finished, you can't stain them. You can put some other materials over the finish, but it isn't stain.

Or, you can strip them back to wood and start over.

Strip the finish off and start again.

Unless these cabnets are special in some way, or you have a ton more time than money, I recomend you buy new ones. I used to sell them and this questionc ame up often.

depending on how the cabnets are built, you may be able to get away with just doors. Refisnihing the smaller frame of the cabnet that shows though is MUCH easier than doing a door. The frame is almost always flat. you could probably refisnish all your frames in the time it would take to do 1 ornate door.

I really want to replace just my doors because the cabinets themselves are in good condition and are structurally sound. The doors, on the other hand, are tacky white/beige laminate on MDF. Yuck

Can you recommend a company to replace only doors?

refinish/stain if you have time & the old finish is easyly reremove, other wise doors replacment is the quickest method.

Honestly, no. I never dealt with any companies that did it, so I can not in good faith recomend or not recommend any company over another. If you are lucky and your cabnets match a size available, you can pick up unfinished doors at Lowes or Home Depot for cheap and finish them yourself. If you don't want to do it yourself, then I am going to be no help to ya. Sorry.
