I know it varies between colleges and degrees, of course, but generally speaking.

I'm weighing my options and trying to figure out whether is a practical option to try to work full-time and also manage 2+ classes per semester. total program involves 30 credits.

my options as I see them:

-keep my job/apartment and taking two graduate classes per semester.
-keep my job/apartment and take one class per semester.
-keep my apartment, quit my job, go to school full-time and borrow boatloads of money to pay for school/rent.
-move back home, try to work something out with my managers where I could cut back my hours/pay/benefits, and go to grad school full-time
-move back home, quit my job, go to grad school, and borrow the money to pay for school / gas.

program I'm looking at is for technical writing/communications ( http://www.njit.edu/v2/MSPTC/home.html ). my parents have already said that they wouldn't care if I moved back home, so that's not a huge issue, and my apartment / my parents house are equidistant to NJIT.

edit: also a factor is the fact that I'd be screwing over my roommate if I moved back home.

I didn't think that they were any harder than undergrad classes.
I have a mechanical engineering undergrad degree and just finished a graduate degree in engineering.
You probably won't have any classes where you can slack off though.

I need to do something with my life :p

I don't hate my job or anything, but it's a total deadend as far as I can see.

I'm applying for a few jobs with the army this week, but in the likely event that I don't get them, it's grad school ahoy so I can get a better job.

Indeed--it does vary. But my thoughts are that the class aspect of grad school are rather easy... generally, the professors know and like you, and realize that you're there to learn. More of a you've proven yourself by getting in sort-of-thing. Because of that, they tend to be fairly lenient with the grades, at least in my opinion. Granted, you have to do work--and there have been a few weeks where I've worked much harder than undergrad -- but I think like most academic endeavors, it comes in spurts.

As I recall, Loki, you've got a night-time network-admin kind of job to begin with? Some free time there to read and write?

That's my two cents--from GA Tech at least.
