How hard are RX8s to fix?

I'm looking into this car as i really like the rear and might get a MS body kit. But the rotary might be a turn off as my dad can fix most cars and his friend owns a shop and never charges us for labor.

rotaries are weird to fix, most mechanics don't. the rest of the car should be pretty normal tho.

mechanics may not have worked with them but rotary engines are MUCH simpler than a standard stacked cylinder engine--they have about three moving parts.

Rotaries are easier to fix. There's no heads to deal with or any of that jazz. The only ones were sectional. You could easily add rotors provided you had a suitable "crank". There's a guy in NZ that has a 4-rotor job. Its bascially a standard Mazda two-rotor with two more rotors "stacked" on. Once you learn how to do it...😎

yeah, and if it's anything like the older rex'es, it'll be easy as hell after you rebuild your motor for the 4th time =P

that only holds true for the boosted ones... the NA ones are still running around... 13B with a turbo is a timebomb no matter what you do to it... 😛 ...but its pretty damn fun so enjoy while it lasts... maybe theyve solved it by moving the exhaust ports but i guess we'll see. 🙂

I use to own an old RX-7 with 12A engine and it was a bitch to fix. Most mechanics don't know enough about the Rotary engine. If you have problem you'll probably have to take it to mazda specialist.
