How good would this PC be for games?

Im planning on making a new system, Im a complete nub at most of this and spent the last month trying to learn how to put PCs together.

THe game I mostly play is counter strike source and I am wondering about how many FPS would I get with the system I am planning to build.

Here is the motherboard

Processor, Athlon 64 3200+ 939 socket

Case

1 gig [2x 512] of pc-3200 ram

ATI radeon x700 pro

This here manages to stay below my budget[about 900ish] Im thinking in about 6 months or so I am gonna get more ram and a better videocard[ATI x800]

Would this system run hl2 and CS:S pretty good?

it will run hl2 quite well. though a 6600gt will probably be a better bet, even for hl2 and cs:s

upgrading any above a gig of ram would be more or less useless for games. it'd only be worthwhile if you were editing huge pictures or videos.

you may think about going witha nforce4 board

it'd give you some more upgrade options(pci-e,sata2) and you could go with this card

it turns out alittle more, but not too much.

I recommend a 9800 Pro/XT

it runs the game smoothly as long as u have it at 1024/768, with aa off and af off.

most GOSU players run CS 1 at 800/600 since it's easier to aim. use the money u saved on a X800XL later on when the price becomes 300 bucks

9800 Pros are horrible recommendations new with 6600GTs out. Used, they'd be good buys for around $150, though I'd probably first consider a used 9700 Pro. (He can't use those cards with his PCIe mobo anyway, though.) I would also recommend a 6600GT no matter what board you get.

Consider getting a better case/PSU.... an Antec Sonata's not much more (much better name-brand PSU, likely quieter, no abhorrent "riced-out" looks).
