How good would this be for cooling?

40mm fans? Those will either push no air at all, or be very noisy. My northbridge has one of those and I want to kill it.

Those are generally made for cases that aren't designed for individual drives in the 5" bays - but you can probably bend or remove the bay separators (little ears that support the drives) out of the way. OTOH, this cage will be a substantially lower price (~$55. w/ four of the hot-swap brackets, sold separately) than the Kingwin (when and if available - I just looked and it is available at a few resellers now including Newegg): http://www.silverstonetek.com/...ontents.php?pno=CFP52B . It will require a small bit of modding to fit most cases (but no bending or cutting of case metal as the Kingwin might) as it is designed for the Kublai series of Silverstone cases. OTTH, you could always buy a Kublai and get the cage for free...
. My Kublai Kage (the name I coined for it) cools easily with the stock fan and any other I've tried (always at reduced speed for noise abatement). However, if you need the fan on it to help cool the entire system, then you may want to look into other than stock unless fan noise doesn't bother you.

Most cases that use rails to mount the optical drives should take the Kingwin w/o much trouble.

Oh yeah would just want the drives themselves to be cooled enough so they don't have higher fail chance. I'd be adding more fans to the case itself for that.
