hello,
well just curious, I don't have any experience with these machines, I have only really heard bad things about them in general. He has a older computer that has been giving him problems and is basically outdated...so he calls me tonight telling me he was finished with the old computer and bought a new one at Best buy

an E-machine...I was kinda skeptical about it and didn't really know what to say...and get this, the techy at BB basically told your only paying for the name with computers, that is why he should buy a HP or other brand....and that he (the techy) had an E-machine...

typical best buy turds

anyways from his description this is the model I think he has

E-machine

just curious what your opinions are so I can rely them to my neighbor

thanks in advance

Emachine's quality has improved a lot over the years. They are no longer the crap-creators.
An especially improved area is their laptops. The emachine M6805/6807 is very popular among the A64 fans.

I've got an emachines 6805 laptop and I love it. The build quality is excellent. I did a lot of research before buying it and was more than satisfied with what I heard about e-machines tech support. It isn't, however, made by e-Machines. My parents bought a cheap e-machines a few weeks ago. It was the $375 dollar one with monitor and printer. It isn't going to be a gaming machine ever (integrated video and no agp slot) but it runs regular apps well and the build quality is good, too. E-machines also puts a program on their machines to update drivers and it seems to work pretty good. I'm sure your neighbor will have a lot fewer problems with it than the other one.

But was her machine one of the Older ones that was made badley? If she went now she could buy an Emachine with an AMD64 Processor in it. I don't see many makers doing that right now? I think emachine is on the way back up mark my words on that one.

Cousins in Texas had nothing but issues with IBM, HP and Compaq and got two eMachines... no issues and very happy. I normally build my own but got a T6000 from BestBuy... I love it...

Emachines, despite having a track record of poor quality in the desktop field, has recently demonstrated that they know their stuff when it come to laptops (see m6805/m6807). Now, with their recent acquisition by Gateway, I can only see their quality getting better, and being a much better value to the consumer.

I have 2 eMachines that my dad bought and they are ok, the newer one's PS/2 was spontaneouly killed, and the old 400mHz Celeron's PSU is dying, but they're quiet and they run. And the new one came with a Cooler Master heatsink (and he bought the whole thing for like $320 with $140 NEC monitor and Lexmark printer)

Hi, sometime around summer I plan to buy myself a laptop. Until then I've been been looking around the net seeing what the world of laptops is like at the moment. Initially I planned to go with a Compaq since I have a Compaq desktop and it has been serving me well. Then I came across this thread. Before I would never had considered getting an eMachines (especially after the lemon desktop a friend got a couple years ago). After read this (and another thread) and specs an eMachines laptop is looking more and more pleasing. I can't say what my choice will be in a few months (depends what will be availabe then) but an eMachines is now a strong contender. Until then I'll continue my research. :)
